Common App
DM/A@E will submit all required documents supporting students' applications for Common Application colleges electronically. To ensure that students' Common Application documents are processed in a timely manner, follow the guide below to access and complete the Common Application Registration Process, which is REQUIRED when applying to Common Application colleges:
In order for the Counseling Office to process and submit documents to Common Application colleges electronically, students MUST do the following:
The Counseling Office will not be able to submit documents to Common Application colleges electronically for students who mail their Common Application(s). Students who prefer to mail their Common Applications to colleges must notify the Counseling Office of their decision immediately.
- Click here for the Common Application Webpage
- On the Common Application website, under "login", locate and click the "Never Registered" link.
- Complete the Common Application registration process.
- Under “My Colleges” you will be able to add any Common Application colleges.
- Common Application colleges can be added any time after completing the Common Application registration process.
- Exit the Common Application website and return to your Naviance Family Connection account.
- In your Family Connection account, under "Colleges" - "Colleges I'm Applying To" - you will see a window to enter your Common App username and password.
In order for the Counseling Office to process and submit documents to Common Application colleges electronically, students MUST do the following:
- Complete the registration process on the Common Application website.
- Create a user name and a password.
- Add the Common Application college(s) they are applying to in their Common Application account.
- BEFORE submitting your application, send your username and password to your College Counselor for application review.
- AFTER your application has been reviewed and approved, SUBMIT!
The Counseling Office will not be able to submit documents to Common Application colleges electronically for students who mail their Common Application(s). Students who prefer to mail their Common Applications to colleges must notify the Counseling Office of their decision immediately.
Common Application Account Rollover
Recently, the Common Application announced that applicant accounts created in 2015-2016 would roll over to 2016-2017. Account Rollover will let anyone with a Common App account maintain that account from one year to the next. It is intended to be a learning tool, not a means of completing college applications prior to senior year. To help students take full advantage of the benefits of Account Rollover, we have created Common App Ready, a series of packaged presentations and accompanying scripts that cover every aspect of the application, from account registration through submission.
What information will carry over from one year to the next?
The answers you provided to any questions that appear in the six sections of the "Common App" tab (Profile, Family, Education, Testing, Activities, and Writing) will be preserved.

What information will carry over from one year to the next?

Is there any individual information that will not carry over?
Yes. The following information will not carry over:
- Any information you may have entered for college-specific Questions and Writing Supplements.
- Your Release Authorization and FERPA selection
- Any Recommender invitations, assignments, and forms.
- PDFs of Common Applications and Writing Supplements submitted the prior year.
- Responses to any questions that have been removed since the prior year .
- Responses to any questions that may have a different format or different response options from the prior year (For 2016-2017, this will include the Testing section given changes in score reporting. We’ll provide more information on this topic later in the spring).
